For the past three years co-founder Gerry Greenland has managed all scripts submitted to Script-In-Hand.
Now Actors Anonymous is looking for a new person to take on this role (Gerry’s taking it easier).
AA/SIH Script Manager Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receive 7-15 short scripts or scenes (5 to 25 minutes each) each month from writers, via AA/SIH email address.
Read and review these, liaise with writers, offering advice on if, when and how to present their script. NOTE: not all scripts can be accepted, some due to large cast size, some due to playability in our venue.
The script manager does not play the role of a dramaturge.
Allocate scripts to particular months of SIH and pass them onto the Manager of Directors & Actors (Stephen Carnell) for assignment.
TIMEFRAME
This role requires approximately 4-6 hours of time input per month, plus 2-3 hours attending the SIH performance each month.
Script-In-Hand runs monthly from March to November each year (9 months).
AA wants someone who can commit for at least a full year (until mid-2013).
REMMUNERATION
This role is pro bono, there is no financial remuneration.
THE TEAM
The Script Manager works closely with the Manager of Directors & Actors. Both are responsible to the seven person Management committee of Actors Anonymous Inc.
TRAINING, EXPERIENCE & QUALITIES
The best person for this job would be a dramaturge, director or producer, who may also be a writer.
Appropriate training at tertiary level and significant experience working in theatre in one or more of the above roles would be ideal. Film experience would also be useful.
This role requires a person who is creative, disciplined, collaborative, motivated, fair and diplomatic. Someone who can be a mentor and a team player.
