Oi! Oi! Oi!
Writers Anonymous gets a new name
Script-in-Hand
It’s been widely agreed that Script-in-Hand is a better title for our collective considering that our membership consists of actors, directors and other theatre folk besides writers.
The name has changed, but not our raison d’être.
Script-in-Hand is still a voluntary collective of artists who assist in developing scripts by performing script-in-hand readings in front of a live audience.
Actors and directors will still practice their craft while helping writers discover what works, and what doesn’t, as their words come to life for the first time.
We will continue to read short plays, and extracts from longer plays, after a short rehearsal with a director.
Each piece is still being allocated between 5 and 20 minutes.
The meetings will continue to run from 7pm to 9pm on the third Monday of the month (except April) at El Rocco, 154 Brougham St, Kings Cross.
Script-in-Hand is not a competition, and if you have a ten minute script read it doesn’t preclude it from being submitted to Crash Test Drama, or Short and Sweet..
Everyone who comes along to the meeting still pays ten bucks which pays for the venue and includes a beer, a wine, or a soft drink.
Membership is free, and we welcome new actors, directors and writers. Just turn up and join in, or be part of the audience.
We’ll see you there. Gerry Greenland & Stephen Carnell
